Client Profile
The client was a major pharmaceutical firm with global operations. The company invested heavily in R&D & had undergone a massive investment both in people, facilities & research to drive greater productivity & success. This was the first time that R&D would be managed truly globally & that the R&D community would identify as one team & organisation. To support this process the company decided it needed to hire a very senior HR Director to support Global R&D

Client Requirement
The client determined that whilst the HRD must be effective in liaising with R&D colleagues & that empathy was important the primary requirement was to appoint an HRD with commercial skills & change management ability. Ideally the candidate appointed should have succession potential to the CHRO

Our Approach & Methodology
We conducted a broad search focusing on HR talent within blue chip business recognised for developing outstanding HT leaders. The search was conducted primarily in Europe & US

Outcome
A candidate from the US was appointed who subsequently moved to Europe. They came from a consumer goods giant but had an academic background relevant to R&D. The candidate went into support the successful development of a global R&D organisation
