Client Profile
The client was a UK publicly listed company who had seen significant & sustained margin erosion primarily by lack of product innovation & commercial dynamism. Relationships with major retailers were poor, reactive & not conclusive to sustainable success. Additionally the business had a manufacturing infrastructure that needed consolidating at pace, a significant pension deficit & a poor corporate reputation especially with the city
Client Requirement
The client needed to appoint a consumer goods industry CEO who had impeccable credentials & industry wide relationships. Along with possessing the appropriate gravitas the CEO would have the strategic & financial skills to build & execute a recovery plan that could lead to profitable growth & the subsequent increase in the share price
Our Approach & Methodology
We identified a target list of candidates with relevant sector experience & we also in confidence took standings from senior grocery leaders & several market analysts. This led to us to a small field of candidates from which we developed our shortlist
Outcome
Although we produced a strong shortlist, one individual emerged very quickly as the stand out candidate who went on to be appointed. The company then enjoyed a period of sales growth & re-organisation which resulted in significant share price recovery
