The client was a UK subsidiary of one of Africa’s largest commercial banks.
Client Requirement
Following our success in appointing a Chair of Risk for the bank we were asked to support with CEO succession planning. The CEO was retiring, and the Board were looking to appoint either internal talent or a business leader with a connection with the parent bank’s country.
Our Approach & Methodology
We assessed the internal candidate and undertook a global search to identify a longlist of financial services candidates with a background in banking and some exposure to the relevant African markets. In addition to working closely with the bank we also dealt directly with the local African Government which required diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.
