Our client was one of the UK’s leading retailers with a number of international operations. Relative to their competitors their Far Eastern sourcing was weak both in terms of percentage, supplier base & infrastructure
This was impacting both on margin but also the company’s ability to be agile & affecting corporate performance. As a result the company determined that they needed to appoint a more senior & seasoned strategic sourcing leader to drive performance
Client Requirement
The client specified a CEO – strategic sourcing who could re-book & scale the strategic sourcing operations based in Hong Kong. The candidate would need to possess not only a deep understanding of the Far Eastern supplier base but also had an appreciation of category management & how to build winning ranges. Also pivotal would be the capacity to work effectively with Country CEO’s acting as a consultant & advisor to ensure strategic business alignment

We led a Hong Kong & China focused search targeting Senior Leaders from competitor strategic sourcing operations with relevant category experience
Outcome
We appointed a seasoned strategic sourcing veteran with over 20 years relevant experience. As a result there was a major step change in Far Eastern sourcing that supported margin. In addition the relationship with the country CEO’s became more effective & productive
